If you were at our grand opening in February, you remember that the south wall of our main offices were boarded up as we waited for the floor to be filled in and work on the entrance downstairs to be done.
Unfortunately, our idea to create a deck for barbeques and selling bubble tea on game days didn't pan out. Oh well, we still have a GREAT space!
In our ongoing efforts to be prepared for anything, staff participated in our annual CPR training last week. You never know when you might need it.
It's not always all fun and games at CISC, but last Friday afternoon it was, anyway. We closed up shop at noon for the annual agency picnic, and headed out to Newcastle Beach Park on Lake Washington.

Outreach staff from the Seattle Aquarium came out to our summer youth program today to talk about what they can see on the beach. This is in preparation for next week's trip to the South Alki Beach conservation area.
This is just one of many fun (but educational) activities the kids enjoy in our summer program. If you can't get to the beach this summer, at least go check out the newly renovated Seattle Aquarium!

Once again, members of Sunshine Garden Senior Day Center provided the official kick off for the ID Summer Festival on the main stage in Hing Hay Park.
Don't know if you remember, but last year about this time (June 26, to be exact), we endured scorching temperatures in our old offices, with fans blowing hot air directly into our faces in a vain attempt to keep cool, and agency issued popsicles.
Today, we graduated our first class of pre-K program participants. Because of a late start up, we were only able enroll 3 students for the entire first year, but we already have a waiting list for next September!
What is the Beehive anyway? It's a web site that aims to help make life easier by providing a single interactive place to connect you to important information on money, jobs, school, childcare, housing, and much, much more. Today, the Beehive launched its Seattle site, joining dozens of other cities around the country.
For those of you who weren't able to join us, this year's Friendship Dinner & Auction was an event to remember! Over 400 guests bid on items large and small, from a Swarovski crystal key chain to Diamond Club Mariner seats.

On Monday, we had over 100 seniors line up outside our offices as early as 4:00 am to try to access vouchers for low income seniors to use at farmers markets. These $40 vouchers had to be accessed at the Mayor's Office for Senior Citizens, but because our seniors (and many other in the community) do not speak English, they came to us for help.
